Apply for a Grant

Therium Access will only provide grants for Organisations, Projects or Cases which advance the aims set out in our Mission Statement and meet our Grant Criteria. We may also set Priorities from time to time.  Please draft your application with these in mind. It is important that a direct connection to access to justice is clearly demonstrated.

Case Grant

Please submit an expression of interest before the deadline (click here), by providing us with the following information:

  1. Description of the applicant (e.g. claimant/defendant, charity);
  2. Brief summary of the case (including key facts, legal basis, remedy sought and where you are in the process);
  3. Brief explanation of how far-reaching the impact of this case is;
  4. Amount requested and what you need it for; and
  5. Brief explanation of how the application meets our Priorities.

Please do not:

  • Attach any documents at this stage; or
  • Include any information which may be construed as waiving legal privilege.

This should be submitted as an attachment (Word or PDF) of no more than 1,000 words to an email and sent to contact@theriumaccess.org.

The expression of interest must be provided by the applicant’s lawyer or barrister. 

Applications will be considered for cases needing action or support within the next twelve months.

 

Organisation/Project Grant

  2. Brief summary of the organisation;
  3. Brief summary of the project;
  4. Brief explanation of how far-reaching the impact of this project is;
  5. Amount requested and what you need it for; and
  6. Brief explanation of how the application meets our Priorities.

This should be submitted as an attachment (Word or PDF) of no more than 1,000 words to an email and sent to contact@theriumaccess.org.

Applications will be considered for organisations and projects needing action or support within the next twelve months.

Urgent Grant

Applications for an urgent grant will only be considered where the immediacy for funds is demonstrated clearly, e.g. for a judicial review.

Please note that for an urgent grant application in relation to a case, we can only correspond with the applicant’s lawyer.

  1. Description of the applicant (e.g. claimant/defendant, charity);
  2. Either:
    1. Brief summary of the case (including key facts, legal basis, remedy sought and where you are in the process), or
    2. Brief summary of the organisation and/or project;
  3. Amount requested and what you need it for;
  4. Explanation of why you need a grant from Therium Access; and
  5. Explanation of why the application is urgent.

Please do not:

  • Attach any documents at this stage; or
  • Include any information which may be construed as waiving legal privilege.

Please note that Therium Access has limited funds available, and a grant is not guaranteed even if a Case, Organisation or Project falls within the Mission Statement and Grant Criteria. Therium Access retains absolute discretion in determining its criteria, process, and whether to make a grant at any time, including any and all details (such as the amount) of a grant.
