Apply for a Grant

Therium Access will only provide grants for Projects or Cases which advance the aims set out in our Mission Statement and meet our Grant Criteria. Please draft your application with these in mind. It is important that a direct connection to access to justice is clearly demonstrated.

Case Grant

Please complete the Application Form before the deadline (click here). Please download and save the PDF Application Form to your computer before completing it to ensure you do not lose your answers. The application form must be completed by the applicant’s lawyer or barrister. Please note that the applicant and the lawyer/barrister are required to sign a statement of truth confirming that the information submitted in their application is truthful and up to date. Applications will be considered for cases needing action or support within the next twelve months.

Project Grant 

Please complete the Application Form and submit it by email to contact@theriumaccess.org  before the deadline (see here). Please download and save the PDF Application Form to your computer before completing it to ensure you do not lose your answers. Please note that the applicant is required to sign a statement of truth confirming that the information submitted is truthful and up to date, and we also require an independent reference in support of your application. Applications will be considered for projects needing action or support within the next twelve months.

Urgent Grant

Applications for an urgent grant will only be considered where the immediacy for funds is demonstrated clearly, e.g. for a judicial review.

Please note that for an urgent grant application in relation to a case, we can only correspond with the applicant’s lawyer.

Please use the Contact Us form to send us an email which includes the following:
  1. Description of the applicant (e.g. claimant/defendant, charity);
  2. Either:
    1. A brief summary of the case (including key facts, legal basis, remedy sought and where you are in the process), or
    2. A brief summary of the project;
  3. Amount requested and what you need it for;
  4. Explanation of why you need a grant from Therium Access; and
  5. Explanation of why the application is urgent.
Please do not:
  • Attach any documents at this stage; or
  • Include any information which may be construed as waiving legal privilege.

Please note that Therium Access has limited funds available, and a grant is not guaranteed even if a Case or Project falls within the Mission Statement and Grant Criteria. Therium Access retains absolute discretion in determining its criteria, process, and whether to make a grant at any time, including any and all details (such as the amount) of a grant.
